SILVA Expedition S features an easy-to-handle Dryflex™ case, silicone rubber feet for precision map work, detachable safety lanyards, luminous markings for nighttime use, a magnifying glass, map measurement scales in mm or inches, 1:25,000, 1:50,000 and GPS scales, and built-in adjusters for magnetic declination (including permanent local adjustment). The Expedition S can also measure the map to 1:40,000, has both a clinometer for measuring slope angle and a 45° angle assist on the mirror sighting function.

The slope map is ideal for both detecting avalanche risk and determining the difficulty of your trip. Knowing the gradient allows you to also assess any additional distance you may need to cover due to the steepness. The ladder strap has two scales on it; 1:25 and 1:50, making it easy to measure the distance of your hike. Because it is soft and pliable, it is easy to place directly on your route on the map. The new graphics include a more distinct arrow (Expedition) and a more contemporary font.

If you need a traditional baseplate compass with premium features, the Expedition should be your choice. If the terrain demands a mirror-sighted compass, the Expedition S is your ideal companion.
