The Jake HMS carabiner from the Force series is a superb belay/rappel carabiner due to its wide (and rounded) bearing surface. This friction interface makes rappelling and descending exceptionally smooth and predictable.
The Jake features a side-opening gate that provides ample clearance and ease of use. This , combined with the spacious basket, makes it ideal as a main-point carabiner. The Keylock design prevents snags on ropes, straps, and gear.
