BLACKRAK BOREAL MOUNTAIN ANORAK
Blackrak Wool Anorak – Boreal Mountain Anoraks
The Blackrak by Boreal Mountain Anoraks combines the traditional character of a wool anorak with a sober, modern style thanks to its stunning deep black color. Designed for both outdoor activities and everyday use, it offers all the recognized thermal performance of Boreal Mountain Anoraks in a particularly versatile finish.
Handcrafted in Canada from a heavy fabric composed of 95% wool and 5% synthetic fibers, the Blackrak has a weight of approximately 650 to 700 g/m². This dense wool offers excellent protection against the cold while retaining the natural properties that make wool particularly attractive for outdoor activities: moisture management, breathability, natural fire resistance, and the ability to retain much of its insulating power even when wet.
Designed for cold and layering
Unlike a traditional fitted coat, the Blackrak features a loose, long fit. This design effectively protects the torso while leaving enough room to add various layers of clothing depending on the temperature and activity level.
Boreal Mountain Anoraks also favors a simple and robust construction, intentionally avoiding mechanical elements such as zippers and snaps, which can eventually become points of failure during intensive use or in harsh conditions.
Its design includes a large kangaroo pocket, a protective hood, and sleeves designed to maximize protection and comfort.

As at home in the city as in the forest
The Blackrak was developed for those who appreciate the performance of a true wool anorak but are looking for a more discreet and versatile color than the shades traditionally associated with the outdoors.
Its deep black color gives it a modern look that transitions easily from winter hiking to daily life, without sacrificing the features that have built the reputation of Boreal Mountain Anoraks garments.
Note for hunters: due to its black color, Boreal Mountain Anoraks advises against its use as an outer garment during certain hunting seasons where hunter visibility is important.
Advice on choosing your size
Boreal Mountain Anoraks anoraks are intentionally designed with a generous fit to allow for freedom of movement and the addition of insulating layers. The manufacturer generally recommends choosing a garment that offers approximately 8 to 10 inches more than your actual chest measurement, depending on your preferences and the clothing you plan to wear underneath.
For extra protection against wind, snow, and precipitation, the Blackrak can also be worn under a canvas outer anorak, thus creating the wool + canvas layering system offered by Boreal Mountain Anoraks.
A robust, warm anorak designed to last, with all the performance of wool in a sober and versatile black style.

Important tips
-
Use a soft tailor's tape. If you don't have one, use a string, then measure it flat.
-
The anoraks are designed to allow for layering multiple pieces of clothing.
-
Size choice may vary depending on the number of layers worn and the desired fit.
-
All fabrics are pre-shrunk.
-
Since each anorak is handcrafted, a variation of approximately 1 in is possible.
-
To wear a canvas anorak over a wool anorak, generally choose the canvas anorak two sizes larger.
